Oregano essential oil uses
The oregano herb may be a core ingredient in many a Mediterranean meal, but its uses extend far beyond those family recipes. One of the most powerful essential oils to grace the aromatherapy kit, oregano is used as an antiseptic, an antibiotic and it’s also antifungal.
Oregano oil is often used daily to help support a healthy immune system, respiratory function and digestion though we recommend speaking to your doctor before embarking on any alternative health treatments.
Oregano essential oil blends surprisingly well with other oils for one so potent. They may be mighty on their own, but oregano and peppermint essential oils are said to work even better when they’re blended together. So, pop them in your diffuser and enjoy the benefits of a match made in oil heaven. Together, peppermint and oregano form a powerful defence against congested airways, and they’ll create an uplifting fragrance with cleansing properties.
Oregano essential oil benefits
Oregano oil is absolutely packed with antioxidants. These help to keep the cells in our bodies free from damage and doing what they should, so by looking after them we may be able to protect ourselves from illnesses such as dementia. Many aromatherapists turn to oregano essential oil for its antifungal properties, and it’s found to help with common problems such as Athlete’s Foot.
If you’re susceptible to problems with your chest and lungs, diffusing oregano regularly can help to cleanse and detox your lungs. Add oregano to a diffuser in your bathroom for when you take a bath or shower, that way it can work with the steam from the water to really clear the lungs and airways.
As a natural antiseptic, oregano is thought to destroy bacteria cells thanks to its carvacrol and thymol content. Standing up to bacteria means oregano is often used to treat minor bacterial infections, digestive issues and even to relieve the pain of sore throats.
Studies have even shown that oregano essential oil may have use as a natural antibiotic and it’s often used in alternative medicine in a bid to combat ailments without having to get a prescription from the doctor. Until further studies are performed however we strongly advise consulting your GP before replacing conventional medicine with essential oils.

It’s fantastic how it goes well with wooden floors, it enhances a pleasant woody smell. I wish I knew before so that I use Oregano oil instead of Lavender, for steam-cleaning wooden floor. BTW, I got huge quantity very low price from Freshskin. I would order again before this runs out. Again, be careful Oregano is a very strong beast.

Only thing that ever works for toenail fungus!! For the past 6 years I tried Nailner, Vicks, curanail, tea tree oil and vinegar; they all didn’t work. So I came across oregano oil thinking it’s too expensive and I thought this one will be either mass produced or even diluted, but however I was wrong. Within two applications the infected nail melted away a bit and within two weeks I have a healthy toenail peeping out . Anyone who’s looking for a cure nail fungus use this oil trust me its godsend. Don’t use tea tree oil or Vicks because it’s not effective. 100% recommended.

Over the years, Oregano oil is still the main one. Be careful: it is a powerful double-edged sword. Very useful when living in areas of high humidity such as Europe. Only Here I could find such huge amounts. I usually buy multiple 100 ml bottled.
