Curiously shaped clove buds are named from the Latin word ‘clavus’ (nail) due to the similarity in shape. Harvested from the tree syzygium aromaticum, clove buds are steam distilled to produce this strongly scented essential oil.
The rich, spicy, fresh aroma of cloves makes the oil a popular ingredient in commercially produced mouthwashes, body washes and toothpastes. Why not use it the same way in your own homemade, chemical-free preparations?
A natural partner to other spice oils, clove bud organic essential oil also blends with peppermint, rose and herby rosemary. Citrus oils are also worth trying as a blend.
